Lucida, created by Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes in 1985, is one of the largest type families around. They wanted to design a font specifically for print and low-resolution screen so they decided on a typeface that features wide characters, clean, plump lines to make it easy to read.
Lucida Sans Unicode combines well with any serif from its own family.
